What is the best diet for a cockatoo is not any fresh fruit or vegetables?
When I saved my bird, the former owner said he does not eat peanuts, coffee and toast! Fortunately, a vet check it considers in great shape despite poor nutrition and smoke-filled environment where lived. My vet requires cockatoo be connected to a supply of 100% commercial pellets pellets Harrison. Everything I have read requires a varied diet that includes grains mixed and product costs with pellets. He liked to eat coconut shell nuts, including walnuts, pecans and Brazil nuts. I suggest 2 / 3 pellets and 1 3 / seed mixture and consumed a lot (or on the floor of the cage) per day. My bird likes to drink cranberry juice, apple juice and a cup I have my coffee while I know is poisonous for birds. It throws all the cup of fresh foods, but the meat is cooked and whipped cream if hand feeding. I would like to hear other owners cockatoos their success with food for their birds.
I have a cockatoo …. with a similar problem. I brought him home as a foster home for a bird rehabilitation center (That is I was so in birds). the center took her and her family of a owner.she combat abusive and lazy dogs and cats and birds, cats Free let the birds on.they so tried to keep his mother and sister, but her mother died of cancer in shape and lack of nutrition. foster sister, but she died two weeks after the family home in. He was the center were so many birds and has not had time to care for a cockatoo two weeks of age. So I took her in. i the hand of his power and his shame and took me for his pet to choose his own toys (when she was strong enough, of course). and if I passed and when I was out of his formula Ween and hung a mixture of seed pellets / i started with your vegetables. She not only are they can eat, go chop em up real small, but found them yet. What I did (I know it is cheating) is that I took her baby to the syringe and mixed with vegetables and fruits and I also gave him like his formula. Once you have been regularly beaten and decided to plant Ween, so mix your vegetables with batter and began to add more whole fruit smoothie and less and now eats vegetables regularly! Hope you can help …. and hopefully not too long!
